How to care for wool, alpaca and viscose
The right care makes your clothes last longer and keep their shape. Always follow the care label first. These are the general rules for the most common materials.
Wool and alpaca
Wash as rarely as possible. Air the garment between wears, ideally outside or in a steamy bathroom. When it needs washing, use a wool programme or hand wash in lukewarm water with wool detergent. Do not wring it: press out the water in a towel and dry it flat.
Pilling
Small bobbles on knitwear are normal, especially where the fabric rubs. Remove them with a fabric shaver or a knit comb, and the garment looks fresh again.
Viscose
Viscose is weaker when wet. Wash it on a delicate programme at a low temperature or by hand, and avoid the tumble dryer. Hang it to dry and iron on low heat if needed.
Cotton
Cotton tolerates most washes. Turn dark garments inside out to keep the colour longer.
Storage
Fold knitwear instead of hanging it, so it keeps its shape. Store wool clean, as moths are drawn to worn garments.
